A member of the fabulously rich Rothschild banking dynasty.

 

A close friend of Almina's mother, Marie Wombwell, and a generous benefactor to both Almina and

George Herbert, Lord Carnarvon.

 

On the marriage of Almina and George in 1895 Alfred made a settlement upon them of upwards of £300,000.

 

When Alfred died in 1918 his principal heir was Almina, Countess of Carnarvon.
